CARE & RELEASE INFORMATION
Message From Your Chrysalis

To ensure that I have a successful transformation and release, below are some tips that will guide you on our journey together.

“An old legend says to whisper your wish to me, and I will grant your wish, once you set me free. I will also bring you hope, positivity and happiness to a new beginning.”

Mahalo for joining me as I make my final transformation. I cannot wait to meet you!

Love,

Your baby chrysalis

Step 1:

Arriving Home

Once you arrive home, place me indoors away from direct sunlight.

Step 2:

NIGHT BEFORE EMERGING

You will begin to notice my color change from a bright green to a darker translucent color. This is an indication that I will meet you the following day!

Step 3:

MORNING OF EMERGING

You will know when I am about to emerge when I’m fully transparent and you can clearly see my wing pattern. At this stage, keep your eyes on me as you can expect to meet me any moment!

Note: Monarch butterflies, like myself, prefer to emerge early in the morning between 3AM to 12PM.

Step 4:

EMERGING

Once I fully eclose (emerge), please allow me to hang around in my box until my wings have fully expanded, dry, and hardened. At this point, I’m extremely fragile and may potentially fall off and damage my wings from any movement, so please kindly refrain from moving the box until I am ready!

(IT IS IMPORTANT TO WAIT AT LEAST 2-3 HOURS FROM THE TIME I EMERGE BEFORE MOVING ME).

Note: It is normal for us monarch butterflies to expel some reddish/brown fluid (meconium) after emerging, so do not worry about me!

step 5:

RELEASING

After I have rested for 2-3 hours, it is time for you to make a wish and release me back into nature so I can join the rest of my butterfly friends. For my safety, please release me only during BRIGHT DAYLIGHT. It was so much fun meeting you; I hope to cross paths with you in the future.

Note: Monarch butterflies do not eat within the first 24 hours, so don’t worry about feeding me before my departure!
